TRIAL
What is a trial lesson?
​
​A trial lesson is the first lesson that you would take to get to know more about the instrument, learning style and instructor that will be assigned to you in your music journey. It sets the expectations and pace of the subsequent classes.
​
Each trial lesson is 45 minutes and cost $38.00 for beginners. Once the trial date is confirm, the trial invoice will be sent to you. Payment would have to be made at least 2 days before the trial class, otherwise it will be cancelled.

What comes after a trial lesson?
​
​If you are satisfied with the instructor's teaching style ​and interested in advancing, we will proceed with the enrolment process. Our school provides 3 student packages that caters to different student's needs:
​
1. Weekly Lesson Package - Students will have weekly lessons, great for all ages that are looking to take grading syllabus and for serious learners.
​
2. Bi-Weekly Lesson Package - Students have 2 lessons per month. This is catered for students that does not have sufficient time per week.
​​
3. 8 Lessons Package - Students have 8 lessons in 2 months. This is for students that are still unsure about the instrument and like to have some time to explore.
​
Pricing for each package can be found here. All lessons have a fixed date and time.
​
The lesson's date and time, as well as the instructor will be following the trial lesson, unless requested otherwise.​
​
For each package, student have to pick either grading classes or leisure classes.
​​

What are the differences between Grading Classes and Leisure Classes?
​​
Grading Classes follow specific syllabus books during lessons. Leisure class does not.

What to expect for enrolment?
​
The enrolment will be an online registration, the following will be sent to your email​​
​
1. Enrolment Form - to be signed and return.
​
2. Enrolment Invoice
​
For Weekly Package and Bi-Weekly Package, it contains $35 one time registration fee, mandatory 2 lessons deposits and lessons in the month.
​
For 8 Lessons Package, it contains $35 one time registration fee and 8 lessons
3. Student Handbook Guide - reference guide for all lessons related actions.
4. Key Signature Music School Admin Portal Login Credentials - access to our online portal to check attendance, monthly payment invoice and when you are unable to attend lesson.

​​You will be required to make full payment of all necessary fees prior your enrolment.
We need at least two working days to process your enrolment. We do not allow same day enrolments/commencements.
You are advised to make payment as soon as possible as time slots are on a first come first served basis. We only reserve slots after full payment has been made
​

What is the deposit for?
​​
The requirement of a school deposit is common among music schools. It is retained as a security deposit for us, in the event where students are late or default on their fee payments, or if they terminate their lessons without giving the required 1 month's advance notice.
​
Upon official notice of termination (a withdrawal form is required to be signed), your deposit will be utilised as 2 final lessons.

How does the payment work?
​​
1. Weekly Package​
Invoice will be billed to you at the start of each month and can be found in the Admin Portal. A WhatsApp notification will be sent to you at the start of the month. Payment have be made within 7 days of the billing, otherwise all classes will be cancelled.
Invoice will include the number of lesson weeks in the month, any books and any add-ons. If there are any unattended lessons (rollover) in the previous month, it will be used as offset.

2. Bi-Weekly Package
Invoice will be billed to you at the start of each month and can be found in the Admin Portal. A WhatsApp notification will be sent to you at the start of the month. Payment have be made within 7 days of the billing, otherwise all classes will be cancelled.

What if I am unable to make it for lessons?
​​
1. Weekly Package​
Go to the Admin Portal and send a request to skip the lesson for the particular date. It must be done at least 3 hours before the start of the lesson, to be counted as a rollover. In the event of illness, a medical certificate must be provided to the school. Failure to do so will result in the lesson being forfeited.​​​

2. Bi-Weekly Package & 8 Lessons Package
​Inform teacher that you are unable to make it for lesson. Makeup lessons can be requested, strictly subjected to the teacher's time and availability. ​
​

Can I change my regular lesson time slot to another day or time?
​​
Yes, you may request to change your regular lesson time. However, regular slots cannot be changed in the middle of the month, any changes will only take effect from the next month onwards.
​
​
What if my instructor is absent?
​​
When your instructor is absent due to medical or other official leave, a relief instructor may be assigned to cover the lesson on his/her behalf. Alternatively, make-up lessons with your instructor may be scheduled to cover the lesson.
​

Am I allowed to stop or pause lessons temporary midway through my package?
​​
1. Weekly Package​ & Bi-Weekly Package
Yes, you are allowed to stop lessons. All paid lessons are to be used up before stopping and all outstanding fees have to be paid, otherwise they will be forfeited. Inform both the Admin and Teachers on the final date and duration of the stop. ​​​

Upon return, your original date and time slot will not be confirmed and are subjected to availability.
​​
2. 8 Lessons Package
​No. You are only allowed to stop lessons after your package ends. Any temporary stoppage of lessons will be deemed as withdrawal from the school and any outstanding lessons and deposit will be forfeited.​
​

Are there lessons on Public Holiday?
​​
Yes, there are lessons on Public Holiday.​​
Do you offer any discounts?
​​​
Yes, we have 5% off monthly lesson fees for family group.​​
How do I withdraw my enrolment?
​​​
Please give our admin staff 1 month's advance official notice.​​
​
Your deposit will then be utilised as 2 final lessons.
What if I am late for lessons?
​​​​
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late will be charged for the lesson and the teacher has the right to cancel the class.

Where and when can I take lessons?

We have two branches, we operate by appointment only.

Can parents/family members sit in during lesson?
​​
No, parents and family members are not allowed to sit in during lessons.
​​
Do you teach Adults?
​​
Yes, our lessons are open to everyone of all ages.
​​
What's the youngest age my kid can start lessons?
​​​
We recommend that students start no earlier than 4 years old.
​​
Do you require a background check on your teachers?
​​​​
Yes, we do. All of our teachers have to pass a background check before they can teach at Key Signature Music School.

Will student have performance opportunity?
​​​​
Yes, we have an annual recital event and is open to all our students to showcase their learnings and provide opportunity to perform on stage.

Will student taking graded class able to do exam?
​​​​
Yes, students taking graded class will be able to sign up for exam (ABRSM/Trinity/Rock school). Once student have been notified to take exam, our admin staff will proceed to help register the student for the proper examination and our teacher will tweak the lessons to focus on the exam materials.

Are there pickup options from nearby childcare?
​​​​
Yes, this will be subjected to case-by-case basis, depending on the location and our teacher's availability for pick-up. This is not a guaranteed option and must be arranged with both teacher and the admin staff.

What is the Admin Portal?
​​​​
The Admin Portal is used by student to check their lessons & attendance, make a request for lessons they are unable to attend and to make payment for their monthly invoice.
